Everyone is encouraged to progress at their own enjoyable pace, with the emphasis very much on the ‘enjoyable'! and the musically gifted can be challenged through trying the exam and performance programmes we have on offer.
All Tutors are qualified to teach, and hold enhanced disclosures for working with children. Tutors follow their own structured method of teaching, and students are offered an annual assessment around December time to give an indication as to how they are progressing. The Music Academy strives to offer a high standard of Service. Tutors attend ‘in-service' meetings over the yearly session, and most of them take part in professional public performance outside of the Music Academy.
There are various Lesson time options:
•15 minute (by special arrangement)
•30 minute
•45 minute (for the upper graded exam pupils usually)
•1 Hour (similar)
Students are offered a free taster lesson initially with the chance to fully enroll at the Academy after this the taster is completed. For those who are unsure of what they want to try, an Assessment lesson can be given on an instrument of their choice. Academy staff are available to advise on all aspects of what the Academy has to offer.
Graded exams are available for Classical, Pop and Jazz, Standard Grade and Higher Music (in this case there is a liaison between the general school music departments and the Music Academy)
